- We must reorganize our student unions and make them a truly independent and democratic force rooted in our communities (independent from government and university administrations).
We must resist the privatization and corporatization of our universities. The neoliberal university recognizes only profit and gain, not education and development, and not universal access.
A true student movement needs to be renewed in our province, and one that fights for accessibility and qualify. We need a movement that recognizes education as a right and not just a privilege for the elites in our society. We need a movement that challenges the status quo of our post- secondary system and fights for the freedom and dignity of indebted students.
This author believes in the agency of grass roots and democratic movements as the great creator of change in the 20th and 21st century. It is my hope that this blog will provide to students some of the necessary reflection and analysis required before taking action. Let's organize, let's fight for it!
